The UTokyo GUC Internship Experience Program, launched in 2026, is a short-term, intensive summer program organised by the Center for Global Education at the University of Tokyo.
This new program offers learning and internship opportunities both on the University of Tokyo campus and in Okinawa. The internship, which lasts for three days and is unpaid, is being offered for the first time as part of a program that combines rigorous academic coursework—taught entirely in English by current and former UTokyo faculty—with a hands-on experience directly connected to the SDGs.
The 2026 Okinawa program delivers an extraordinary two-week academic and professional journey:
Week 1: Coursework at UTokyo’s historic Hongo Campus in Tokyo
Week 2: A field-based internship experience in Okinawa, one of Japan’s most dynamic regions
The program features small class sizes, typically around 10 students. Enrollment in each course is selective, with participants chosen through a screening process to maintain high academic standards.
IARU students are eligible for a 20% discount on the program fees.
